Tribhuwan University (TU) is the Nepal’s first and the oldest university. Established in 1959, today the university is spread in the area of 154.77 hectares of land. Located in Kirtipur, the university is at the distance of 5 kilometres from the Kathmandu city centre. Tribhuwan University consists of altogether 39 central departments and 4 research centres with 3 of the research centres’ located at Kirtipur. The university has 4 councils, which is also the decision making organ of the TU viz. Executive Council, Academic Council, Research Coordination Council and Planning Council. Besides, the university also has Senate comprising of 52 members who make regulations, policies and plans the budget. The university aims at providing quality higher education with empirical knowledge and research whether it be in the arts, management, technology or vocational scope.
By contrast, Training Nepal also runs the KUUMAT preparation course for the students who wish to pursue their university degree through Kathmandu University (KU).
